The Chrysoprase, from the Latin khrysós, is a much appreciated variety of quartz chalcedony belonging to the family, the availability in nature is quite rare and that pure is difficult/impossible to find. The Chrysoprase is the first layers of rock surface, note well in the variety first choice there are dark intrusions and/or surface micro-grooves unlike the 100% pure that with an increased presence of nickel gives the hard stone the wonderful color green apple and a splendor that leaves amazed. The Chrysoprase is made today mostly in Australia, smaller amounts in deposits in Brazil, the Urals, the United States, India and South Africa.
